Join our Board

Join the Board of Directors of an organization committed to improving the self-esteem, independence, physical health, mental well-being, and sense of belonging in one’s community for persons with physical, developmental or cognitive challenges, through adaptive mountain sports and recreation activities.

The Ideal Board Member

  • A respected member in the community and a leader in his/her peer group
  • Has knowledge, skills and experience in one or more of the following: social services delivery, policy development, risk management, health and safety, fund development/sponsorship experience.
  • Has an interest, knowledge or participation in RMA programming

Primary Responsibilities

  • RMA’s highest level of decision making and legal authority
  • Accountable for RMA’s resources and activities
  • Define, through policy, the parameters of RMA
  • Articulate and communicate RMA’s vision

Expectations

  • Make a time commitment of averaging 10-15 hours per month
  • Attend six board meetings per year and the annual general meeting
  • Sit on one board committee, meeting as required
  • Attend a strategic planning session every two to three years
  • Attend special events
