Where do I meet for my lesson?
Please check your booking confirmation to find out where you are meeting for the lesson. Most guests choose to meet at the RMA shed at the stipulated time. If you feel that you need more help in getting to the RMA shed, we are happy to start your lesson at the base of the mountain, in order to guide you to the top. Please note: in this case, your lesson will start at the stipulated time at the base of the mountain at the hotel check in area.
Where is the RMA (Rocky Mountain Adaptive) shed?
The RMA shed is located at the top of the gondola on the left hand side. When you have purchased your tickets, head up the gondola (generally a 20-25 minute ride). Pass by Goats Eye Gardens which is located half way en route to the top (named the Village Area). When you arrive at the Village Area, unload the gondola. If you are taking a lessons or meeting for a rental with RMA, you will see the Rocky Mountain Adaptive shed located to the left as you exit the gondola. Your instructor will meet you here.
Does my lesson include lift tickets or rentals?
No, the lesson does not include lift tickets or regular ski or board rentals. RMA’s lessons do include the rental of our adaptive equipment such as sit skis or outriggers. Equipment may rented from Sunshine Village or rentals stores in Banff or Canmore. Lift Tickets may be purchased at online here or at Guest Services at Sunshine Village. If you have requested a Managers Ticket with us, these are available through Sunshine Village only, on the day of your lesson/rental. Managers Tickets are $57.25 including GST.
Can I get fitted for my sit ski the day prior to my lesson?
If you would like to get fitted for the sit ski outside of lesson time, please arrange with us to arrive a half hour earlier than your lesson start time. Unfortunately, due to other bookings and sit ski rentals, we cannot accommodate sit ski fittings on the day prior to your lesson.
What are Manager’s Tickets and how do I collect them?
Manager’s Tickets are discounted tickets provided by request to RMA guests and one caregiver on any given day. Manager’s Tickets are only available at Sunshine Village, where we are based during the winter season. While Manager’s Tickets are not publicly advertised, these tickets are available on any day of the winter season. They should be collected from Guest Services, which is located on the second floor of Creekside (the main building located to the right of the gondola). Lift access is available to the second floor. Manager’s Ticket are $57.25 half the price of an adult ticket. Guests under 13 years should purchase a regular child ticket instead. Manager’s Tickets may only be purchased on the day of, at Guest Services. They may not be purchased in advance or through RMA. When visiting Guest Services, please mention that the guest and/or caregivers name should be on the Manager’s List for Rocky Mountain Adaptive.
Is there Disabled Parking?
Yes. Disabled Parking is located opposite the hotel check in area, at the base of the mountain. When arriving at Sunshine Village, please show your badge to staff and they will direct you to the assigned parking lot. For some individuals, it is easier to unload at the Hotel Check-In area and then park up. After parking in the Disabled Parking, it is a short wheel/walk to the ramp access to the gondola.
Can I load the gondola in a wheelchair?
Yes, of course. The Sunshine gondolas have 2 bench seats. One will be raised to allow room for your chair. If you are also travelling with a sit ski, we advise removing the ski from the sit ski to allow more room in the gondola.
How much time will it take to get to the top of the mountain from the parking lot?
The answer to this question will vary depending on how busy the day is, your speed, whether the gondola is running at its regular speed, and if you need to collect rentals and/or lift tickets at the base. Our general recommendation is that you arrive at the base about an hour prior to the start of the lesson. On an average day, the gondola will take 20-25 minutes to get from the base to the top – named the Village. The gondola will stop about half way up at Goats Eye Gardens. Do not unload here – head straight to the top. The Village is where the RMA shed is located.
Where can I store my wheelchair if renting a sit ski or taking a lesson?
If taking part in a rental or lesson with RMA, please meet us at the RMA shed (located at the top of the gondola on the left hand side). We will be able to store your wheelchair in our RMA shed until the end of the rental/lesson, or just outside the RMA shed. Please note: we are unable to store any personal effects. There are lockers located in the Day Lodge for this purpose.
I’ve taken a lesson with you, can I now rent a sit ski?
This depends on your ability in the sit ski. We are only able to rent sit skis to individuals who are able to confidently load and unload a chairlift and also sit ski a green run independently.
Are there any disabled washrooms?
There is 1 accessible washroom located at the base of the mountain, on the 2nd floor of the Creekside building. This washroom may be accessed by the lift inside the building. There is also an accessible washroom located in the Day Lodge on the ground floor, just inside the entrance to the building.
How much are lift tickets to Sunshine Village?
Regular Sunshine Village Lift Ticket are priced as follows (not including GST):
Adult Full Day Lift Ticket (18 years +): $109 + GST
Youth Full Day Lift Ticket (13- 17 years): $85 + GST
Senior Full Day Lift Ticket (65 years +): $85 + GST
Child Full Day Lift Ticket (6-12 years): $42 + GST
Gondola Only: $42 + GST
These may be purchased at Guest Services or the Ticket Stations at the base of the mountain.

I am running late for my lesson, who should I call?
If you will be late for your lesson, please call our office at 403 431 1354. We will then notify your instructor of this.
