Here at Rocky Mountain Adaptive, we aim to provide opportunities for students interested in adaptive sports and recreation, fundraising, development, marketing and more. Our Practicum Students gain professional experience and knowledge in these fields with hands on experience in all aspects of programming and have the opportunity to expand their people and technical skills.
Students can gain more knowledge about their field of study and gain real world job experience working for a non-profit organization. Intern positions range from part-time (as little as ten hours/week) up to full time positions for three to four months. Each placement is catered to your interest and availability of time. Positions may be adapted to suit each students need and requirements. Background checks are required.

We are happy to custom build your practicum placement to suit your interests and strengths, but we do require the above information prior to making this plan. Options for practicum roles are as follows and may be combined in the best way to suit the applicant:
Fundraising & Fund Sourcing
Software Development (App Building)
Rocky Mountain Adaptive is based in Canmore in the summer (May – September) and at Sunshine Village, Banff in the winter (November – May). While we prefer individuals taking part in our practicums to be able to spend physical time with us in our activities, we understand that travel can be difficult. Depending on the role chosen, many of our students may choose to work on some parts of their practicum from a home location and some parts in Canmore/Banff.
University of Alberta & University of Calgary
University of Alberta & University of Calgary applicants may apply directly through their university and view the Our current Placement Vacancies (see above). Upon application, students will be required to complete a short interview with Rocky Mountain Adaptive as well as providing their Resume. Applicants who are not interested in our current vacancies should still apply by emailing email@example.com and explaining their interests within RMA. Those who are wishing to complete a Summer Placement Program should refer to our Internship page.
All Other Universities
We welcome applications from those enrolled at any other university or college. Applicants will need to make their own arrangements with their university/college in order to take part in a placement with us. After contacting us to confirm your interest in working with us, we will then arrange an informal interview to make sure applicants are the right fit for Rocky Mountain Adaptive. Please note that these roles are unpaid. Applicants will need to secure their own accommodation, and visas (if required). Placements/work experience periods range from 1 – 6 months, and may be adapted to suit the applicants experience.
We welcome students from all over the world! We are unable to provide financial support to international students. This includes help with accommodation and visa costs. Applicants must check on any necessary visas that may be needed depending how official your ‘education component’ is and how this falls within the Canadian Visa and immigration requirements. As RMA is unfamiliar with visa requirements in different countries, it is up the applicant to research the correct paperwork required.
