So I’m almost there. Saturday, May 6 will mark DAY 149 (33 this season) of Marie’s 150 I DID IT campaign to raise funds for Rocky Mountain Adaptive.
Thanks so much to all of you who have sent encouraging words – it is tremendously encouraging! BIG THANKS go to all those who have already donated or pledged to this campaign. You are indeed helping make a positive impact on people’s lives.
For those of you who have already contributed or are still thinking of doing so I want to say that I understand that there are so many very worthwhile charities out there – some that are very special to you individually and so again I say thank you for even considering a contribution to my campaign for RMA.
We set a goal to raise enough money to purchase a much-needed Sit-ski for next season. This particular sit ski offers skiers of various sizes the opportunity to hit the slopes in a piece of equipment that offers those with more challenging physical disabilities to be able to learn to ski quicker and easier, and to a higher level with more independence. Those of you who have looked at the website may have seen an initial goal of $5000 – the cost of this particular sit-ski, however the cost is an American dollars so we have reset our little thermometre to reflect the exchange rate.
We are still a little ways away from this goal, but I will continue to be the little engine that could and keep on 🎿 skiing!!!
I kind of like the story I have of how I decided to take on this fundraiser, so over the next week, I will post the whats and whys. It’s a bit long so I’ll tell it in a couple of posts, one even a little Twilight Zone’ish’.
If you know me even a little, you know that I am quite uncomfortable asking people to spend their hard-earned dollars, so the fact that I am gives you some idea of just how much I think of RMA and its focus on the ABILITIES of participants!
Thank you – Marie Olney
